The first set of pics from Vietnam are from the Cu Chi tunnels. These tunnels were dug by the Vietnamese before and during the Vietnam war. It was a very surreal experience to see. It was no wander after experiencing it why the war was so gruesome and why we did not win. The Vietnamese were like ants crawling into and from beneath the earth. They set up "boobie traps" and hid from us while shooting from tiny bunker holes designed to see out without people being able to see in.
This was a secret entrance. They are demonstrating how they entered the openings and placed leaves on top prior to entering so that the entrances were difficult to find by Americans. They also mentioned that explosives were placed directly under the "cover" in case it was found.

Below is a picture of a bunker. The holes were big enough for the Vietnamese to see out and shoot out. Very difficult for Americans to return fire.
We crawled into the entrance via stairs. On our way underground.....very tight quarters!

Colby inside the tunnel. Very tight! We had to crawl or "duck walk" our way through the the exit. One was enough for me...............but Colby did a deeper and longer one after.

Smoke from the kitchen. Our guide informed us that the chimney was place at least 100 meters away from the kitchen so that the enemy could not bomb the kitchen accurately. (Clever!)

Random really cute puppies we saw walking around.
Interesting looking bridge we saw while cruising around. 
We stopped at a local home and were greeted with fresh coconut juice from the family. Their son's biggest job was to climb the tree and retrieve the coconuts. 
Their pet monkeys were chained/leashed to the tree. Love monkeys.
It was very rainy and "yucky" in Vietnam. Colby drinking the coconut juice.

I'm not sure how we got so lucky as to only have 4 people on our boat. The other boats had at least 15 people. We were on the boat with a Canadian couple who were both also nurses. What a coincidence.
This Vietnamese lady gave us free hats ( like the kind she is wearing). It was a great shield from the rain. Check out her "boat" she is in.
Vietnam was interesting. A great stop along the way.......can't say we have to return however. Hope you enjoyed the pictures = )
